LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Antwan Burrus scored 15 points as Liberty battered NAIA member Southeastern University 92-53 on Saturday night.
Joe Retic scored 12 and Tomasz Gielo and John-Caleb Sanders put in 11 points each for the Flames.
Southeastern played even with Liberty and led 18-16 until Liberty's Casey Roberts nailed a 3 with 12 minutes remaining in the first half to go up by two. The Flames extended that lead to 17 points by the end of the period sporting a 45-28 advantage.
A Joel Van Der Pol layup off a Burrus assist gave Liberty (6-7) a 26 point second half lead with 12 minutes remaining. The Flames extended that lead to 41 points just before game end, settling for the 39 point victory margin.
Southeastern was led in scoring by Dwayne Johnson with 14 points and the Fire was held to 33 percent shooting from the field.
