LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Darrin Peterson had two touchdown receptions as six different Liberty players reached the end zone in a 73-7 rout of Kentucky Wesleyan.
Peterson began an onslaught of 45 first-half points for Liberty (3-2) by hauling in a 55-yard touchdown pass from Josh Woodrum on the first play from scrimmage. Peterson later caught a 21-yard score from Woodrum to give the Flames a 24-7 lead over Kentucky Wesleyan (0-4) by the end of the opening quarter.
The Flames' defense and special teams got on the scoreboard as well. Andrew Jauch blocked a punt and returned the ball 30 yards for a touchdown in the first and Gary Sampson had a 31-yard interception return for a score in the second.
