Fantasy Pickups of the Week:

LHP Lopez, Giants agree to three-year deal

The SportsXchange

Javier Lopez, a key reliever on two World Series championship teams in San Francisco, is staying with the Giants.

The free agent left-hander agreed to a three-year, $13 million contract, the team announced Thursday. The deal is not finalized pending a physical, which Lopez is expected to undergo next week.

Lopez, 36, posted a 2-1 record with one save and a 1.83 ERA in 69 games for the Giants in 2013. During the past four seasons with the Giants, Lopez has a 2.26 ERA.

Over San Francisco's World Series runs in 2010 and 2012, Lopez made a combined 14 postseason appearances, allowing one run in 8 2/3 innings (1.04 ERA).

The return of Lopez is the Giants' latest deal involving a pitcher. Since the end of the season, general manager Brian Sabean also re-signed right-hander Tim Lincecum and added free agent right-hander Tim Hudson.

Adding in the $90 million contract the Giants gave to free-agent-to-be right fielder Hunter Pence on the last day of the season, San Francisco spent $161 million on four players over the past two months.
