S Lewis agrees to terms with Texans

Free-agent safety Kendrick Lewis reached a contract agreement with the Houston Texans on Friday.

The deal is for one year, the Houston Chronicle reported. Lewis confirmed via Twitter that he was joining the Texans after four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.

In Kansas City, the 25-year-old Lewis started 50 games, including 15 last season, and had seven interceptions. He will be reunited in Houston with defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel, who was with the Chiefs during Lewis' first three seasons.

With the Texans, Lewis joins a secondary that returns 2013 starting safeties Danieal Manning and DJ Swearinger.

Lewis was selected in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He has 212 career tackles, 26 passes defensed two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 53 games.
