Once upon a time, USC was starving to add potential defensive line recruits to the roster. Flash forward to 2017. That class, coupled with the 2015 class, has USC’s future looking bright in the trenches.

Things might even get better in the near future. This recent trend of adding talented and big bodied football players seems to be continuing in the 2018 class.

On Sunday, Concord, Calif. De La Salle HS DT Tuli Letuligasenoa committed to USC. He choose the Trojans over many of their Pac-12 rivals, not to mention football powers like Miami (Fla.), Nebraska and Notre Dame.

Sources close to USC’s recruiting efforts told TrojanSports.com that USC sealed the deal after impressing Letuligasenoa on the Spring Game visit. Letuligasenoa had also been adamant in interviews with the Rivals.com network and with TrojanSports.com that USC was his dream school.

Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Adam Gorney spoke to us about Letuligasenoa and his potential as a college defensive lineman at USC.

“He is a big bodied, run stuffing, gap shooting, defensive tackle who I really liked a lot,” Gorney said. “I saw him against Najee Harris’ team last year and was impressed. I’ve seen him before and you can never really go wrong with interior defensive linemen at De La Salle. They teach their kids to play tough, to play hard, to play smart. They’re incredibly well coached and disciplined. So you’re going to get a kid coming in who’s all of those things, wants to be really talented. He’s over 300 pounds already and he can stuff the run, he can gap shoot, he can beat guards up the middle. It’s definitely a big pickup. He’s going to be a guy who can continue to add power to his game and be kind of a fierce force up the middle for the Trojans.”
