Breaking News:

Leslie Frazier hopeful Vikings can bring Antoine Winfield back

National Football Post

Leslie Frazier is hopeful that the Minnesota Vikings can find a way to keep Antoine Winfield a week after the club surprisingly cut him.

The Viking have a definite need for the veteran cornerback but did not want to pay him $7.25 million for this coming season. Winfield has generated interest on the open market and could be taking visits soon.

"I'm hoping that it's not goodbye yet," Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said, according to Tom Pelissero of 1500 ESPN. “Him and I talked a few days ago, before I came up here, and I don't want the door to be shut. So, we're going to still try to get something worked out -- if he's amicable to coming back."

The Vikings own two picks in the first round and the draft is considered strong for cornerbacks. So, it will not be a surprise if Minnesota goes after a cover man and a wide receiver in the draft. But having Winfield back would help.
