LeSean McCoy says players at fault for Andy Reid's demise

National Football Post

Andy Reid is expected to coach his final game at home for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

It’s a foregone conclusion the man that has led the franchise to five NFC Championship Games will be fired at season’s end. And the players, at least running back LeSean McCoy, believe they are the ones to blame for the fate of the coach, who has been in place for 14 seasons.

“If you sat here and tried to name five to eight coaches that are better than Coach Reid, I would like to hear them," McCoy said, according to Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I guess people have their own opinions, and their minds are made up. I think the thing about the team is, we know how good of a coach he really is.

“(Reid) gets blamed for everything. Sometimes as players, we feel we've let him down."

This is a natural reaction in the NFL, especially for players who have only played for one team. Reid hasn’t thrown many players under the bus during his tenure. He’s treated them well but in this case it appears his tenure in Philadelphia has run its course.

"Whatever happens, happens, but I'm behind Coach Reid 110 percent," McCoy said. "I don't think he should get blamed for the turnovers, the blown mistakes."
