I remember playing dodgeball in gym class as a kid. It was a silly game where we ran around and threw rubber balls at each other. I enjoyed dodgeball because it was simple and fun. Anyone could play it.

Who could have predicted that dodgeball would become a legitimate international sport? It turns out that dodgeball is easy to learn but difficult to master. Here is some information on the legitimate worldwide sport of dodgeball.

National Dodgeball League

The National Dodgeball League (NDL) is an organization that hosts professional dodgeball games. There are currently 18 teams in the league from across the United States. Teams such as the Los Angeles Chaos and San Diego Crossfire represent the west coast. On the east coast are teams like the New York Epic and Virginia Rampage.

NDL Amateur Association

The NDL has a feeder program known as the NDL Amateur Association. This group governs amateur dodgeball teams as they rise through the ranks. Teams like Rise of Brutality and Hammer Time play in sanctioned dodgeball tournaments throughout the year. Winning tournaments earns points and leads to higher rankings.

2011 NDL Dodgeball World Championship

The eighth annual NDL Dodgeball World Championship was held on August 12-14, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Teams from all over the world faced off in seven divisions. The American teams dominated the competition, earning first and second place in all but one division. The Dodgeball World Championship is the premier tournament of its kind in the world. It is their World Series, their Super Bowl.
