LeBron James Warns LaVar Ball To “Keep My Kids’ Names Out Of Your Mouth”

LaVar Ball has put himself in quite the predicament after speaking about LeBron James and his children on Chris Broussard’s In The Zone podcast. Ball shared his opinion that his three sons are in a better position to succeed than James’ offspring because they wouldn’t have the extreme pressure of living up to the hype of their dad’s career.

The father of UCLA standout Lonzo Ball, who said he was good enough to “kill” Michael Jordan one-on-one claimed, “The monsters in the NBA, their dads wasn’t that good. They were OK, they was players, but the fact that the old [Dell] Curry wasn’t no All-Star, he wasn’t cold. He could shoot the ball, though. Kobe Bryant, his dad wasn’t all that, that’s why he’s such a monster.”

He later aimed his comments in James’ direction, stating, “You got LeBron, it’s going to be hard for his kids because they are going to look at them like, ‘You got to be just like your dad.’ And after a while, that pressure starts sitting on you like, ‘Why do I got to be just like him? Why can’t I just be me?’ And then they are going to be like, ‘Aw, you’re soft, you’re not that good.’ Because the expectation is very, very high.”

King James, who is also a father of three, didn’t take kindly to Ball’s comments. The three-time NBA champion fired back at Ball on Tuesday (March 21). “Keep my kids’ names out of your mouth,” James told ESPN. “Keep my family out of your mouth. This is dad to dad. It’s a problem now. He can talk all about his brand, talk about his sons, talk about basketball, talk about me. But keep my family out of this.”

James also made a point to say that he’s a fan of UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball’s athleticism, admitting to ESPN, “I actually like [Lonzo]. I like his game.” It’s only a matter of time until LaVar Ball’s outlandish comments fall on deaf ears.
