Leaked, Sexist Clips From Trump Reality Show That Never Was Are Pretty Much What You'd Expect

Toss another iron on the Donald-Trump-is-sexist fire: newly unearthed clips from a Trump reality show that never happened, published exclusively by Jezebel on Tuesday.

“Three years ago, before Donald Trump announced his apocalyptic, finally real run for president, reality TV producers were planning a big rollout of their own: Trump Town Girls, a series pitting beautiful, leggy contestants in Trump’s beauty pageants against the hardened real estate brokers of Trump International Realty,” the story announces. “But Trump Town Girls, which our sources say was designed as a vehicle for Trump’s daughter Ivanka to gain some TV exposure of her own, never aired. The Trump family pulled the plug due to concerns that the cast was too small and not interesting enough.” And good thing, Jezebel continues, as the show appeared to be “very bad.”

The plot was simple: Trump spotted talent among his pool of Miss USA contestants (and elsewhere, as still-big-time-broker Michelle Griffith was not a pageant girl), offering them the chance to make it big as real estate brokers with his luxury New York City firm. (Or, as Jezebel puts it, are “hot ladies recruited by Trump” up to the task “of doing real work”?) It’s unclear what the answer would have been, judging by the total 4:41 minutes spread among the three clips, but it’s pretty obvious that the show relied upon plenty of standard sexist plot devices: pitting women against each other, slut shaming, double entendres that revolve around women “selling themselves,” and watching fear and self-doubt rise in women who are “fresh out of grad school or fresh off the farm.” Wow, so fun.

So why didn’t the show go anywhere? The Trumps pulled out, according to an unnamed source. Three years later, another reality show, this one about Miss USA contestants, was allegedly in works — until the same developers as for Trump Town Girls, Stick Figure and Ora TV (funded by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim) stopped it, reportedly after Trump’s anti-Mexican rhetoric angered Slim.

It’s clearly for the best that neither show made it into the world, as the excruciating TTT are bad enough. As Jezebel noted, “It feels like we’re watching how Trump’s misogyny and alleged lecherousness played out in practice, at the office.”
