Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender James Reimer and forward James van Riemsdyk could be back in the lineup on Saturday for a game against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Reimer went down 32 seconds into Thursday night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes when teammate Josh Leivo collided with him while backchecking. Reimer lay on the ice for several minutes before he left with assistance. He didn't return to the game.
"I had a bit of a headache, so the doctor felt it was in my best interest that I stay out for the rest of the game," Reimer told CBC Sports. "I came in this morning and felt pretty good. I rode the bike and worked out before I hit the ice and when I got on the ice I felt pretty good."
Reimer and van Riemsdyk both practiced Friday. Van Riemsdyk has missed the past two games because of back spasms.
The 25-year-old Reimer has posted a 2-0 record this season. Van Riemsdyk has five goals and one assist in six games.
