Lazio handed stadium ban

UEFA has handed Lazio a stadium ban due to the behaviour of its fans during the team's 2-0 Europa League win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

Biancocelesti supporters were seen doing the Roman salute during the course of their last-32 tie with the Fohlen last week.

The governing body was quick to charge the capital club with "racist behavior", and its last-16 clash with Stuttgart will now be played behind closed doors.

This latest sanction is Lazio's fourth charge this season, with the club having also been found guilty of similar offenses after their games against Tottenham and Maribor in the group stage.

Following the clash with the Slovenians, UEFA issued them with a suspended stadium ban, which has now come to fruition.

The clash with Gladbach was also marred by violence before the match, with three fans of the German club wounded, and the German club now also face a charge after visiting supporters lit fireworks during the match in Rome.

This comes one day after Inter was fined 50,000 euros for racially abusing AC Milan star Mario Balotelli during Sunday's Derby della Madonnina.
