The SportsXchange

More than 150 media members packed the Houston Rockets' practice court to be on hand for the introduction of Jeremy Lin as a member of the Rockets.

The Houston Chronicle notes that's more media than attended the introductory press conferences for either Roger Clemens or Andy Pettitte when those two joined the Houston Astros.

"I don't see myself as a conquering king, said Lin, who signed a three-year, $25.1 million offer sheet with the Rockets that was not matched by the Knicks. "But it's been an unbelievable ride, just a lot of things I didn't expect to happen in terms of just how last season went. I still have to remind myself that this all actually happening sometimes.

"Coming into free agency, I didn't expect to be anywhere besides New York. But after I came here and visited and talked . . . I wouldn't have signed an offer sheet with Houston if I wasn't excited about the possibility of playing here as well."

Lin had been waived by by the Rockets on Christmas Eve 2011.

"It's always difficult when you make an error," Rockets owner Les Alexander told the Houston Chronicle. "We made an error when we let him go. I think we rectified it now."
