On Friday, August 24, 2012, the Lancaster Barnstormers hosted the Long Island Ducks in the first game of a three game series. The Barnstormers had a great game and shattered a recent scoring record with 25 hits. The team also got an impressive five homeruns. The Barnstomers scored at least one run in all but the sixth and seventh innings. In the end, the Barnstormers took the victory by an impressive score of 17-3.
Currently, the two teams are tied at one win each in the three game series. On Saturday, August 25, the two teams once again met. The Barnstormers were not nearly as successful as in the previous game. This time, it was the Ducks that took the game and the team won by a score of 7-2. The winner of the series will be decided in the third game which is scheduled to be held on Sunday, August 26.
Unfortunately for Barnstormers fans, it was a game between the Sugar Land Skeeters and the Bridgeport Bluefish that received national coverage due to the fact that Roger Clemens would be taking the pitcher's mound. That game aired on ESPN Classic and on ESPN 3. Live updates of the game aired on ESPN News. It was a great opportunity for baseball fans who overlooked the ALPB to see what they were missing, though.
Tickets to the playoff games are currently on sale, though there is no word yet as to which team the Barnstormers will be playing. The dates, times and locations of the first round games and for the finals have been released and so fans may purchase tickets to the four home games that are currently scheduled. The first round of the playoffs will be held on Wednesday, September 26, and Thursday, September 27. The game will then head to the opponent's stadium for up to three more games in the next three days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If the Barnstormers win, the next round will also have the first two games at home for the Barnstormers. The tickets are available for the games that will be held on Wednesday, October 3, and Thursday, October 4. The series will then head on the road for the next three games which will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Fans can purchase tickets to all four home games for $40 or $44 depending on the seating. Those who purchase the ticket package will also receive a red t-shirt.
