Lancaster Barnstormers Take Series Against Southern Maryland Blue Crabs

On Sunday, September 2, 2012, the Lancaster Barnstormers hosted the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. After dropping the first game in the three game series on Friday, the team had managed to win the second game, which was held on Saturday, to tie the series. It all came down to one final game to determine which team would take the series. Barnstormers fans who came to cheer on their team were no doubt thrilled to see the Barnstormers take the final game and the series.

The first game, held on August 31, was a close one. The Barnstormers fell just short of taking the game and the Blue Crabs took the victory by a score of 7-6. Fortunately for fans of the Barnstormers, the team managed to make a comeback in the second game and took the victory by a score of 5-2. The winner of the series would be decided in the final game. The teams went back and forth in the game. Going into the eighth inning, the Barnstormers led by a score of 5-3. In the ninth, the Blue Crabs managed to get one more run, but would not be able to take the lead or even tie the game. The Barnstormers got the victory by a score of 5-4.

Up next for the team is a four game home series against the Bridgeport Blue Fish. This series will include four of the last few games that the Barnstormers will host before the playoffs begin. On September 14, the Barnstormers will host the Blue Crabs for one final three game series during the 2012 regular season. On Wednesday, September 26, the team will host their first playoff game for 2012. The opponent has not yet been established.

The Barnstormers have been dominating the league this season. With a season record of 78-42, the team not only tops the Freedom Division, but also Atlantic League. The team has approximately 20 more wins than the Blue Crabs, which are the top team in the Liberty Division. The team has approximately 14 more wins than the York Revolution, which are the second place team in the Freedom Division. The Barnstormers have already secured a playoff berth by being at the top of the standings at the end of the first half of the season. There can be no doubt that the Barnstormers are hoping this will be the team's year to get the championship. Fans are currently able to purchase playoff tickets and ticket packages.
