Aldridge went 12-22 from the field and 7-9 from the free throw line. Other top performers for Portland were Robin Lopez with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Nicolas Batum with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Dwight Howard had another strong game for Houston in the loss, scoring 32 points on 14-22 shooting from the field and 4-6 from the free throw line. He also added 17 rebounds. James Harden contributed 25 points and 7 assists and Chandler Parsons finished with 14 points and 5 rebounds.
In a matchup of first-rate offenses, the unit of Portland (ranked first in the NBA in offensive efficiency) came out on top, scoring 1.11 points per possession.
This drops Houston (15-8) to 1-1 against Portland on the year.
