Lakers' Johnson day-to-day with foot injury

The SportsXchange

Los Angeles Lakers forward Wesley Johnson is day-to-day after injuring his left foot Sunday in an exhibition game.

Johnson underwent an MRI exam Monday that revealed a strained tendon.

The 26-year-old signed with the Lakers as a free agent in the offseason. Johnson is shooting 20 percent so far through two preseason games.

"It could be just two bad games," coach Mike D'Antoni said of Johnson, according to the Los Angeles Times. "I told him today, if you look at the film, and I don't think he's played well to his potential, with him on the floor we're a better team. He makes us better."

A 2010 first-round draft pick of the Timberwolves, Johnson spent two seasons with Minnesota before playing last season with the Phoenix Suns. He averaged eight points and 2.5 rebounds in 50 games for Phoenix, close to his career averages of 7.7 points and 2.8 boards.
