The Los Angeles Lakers' injury troubles got a little worse on Friday, when the team announced that center-forward Jordan Hill will miss the rest of the season with a hip problem.
The Lakers are particularly thin in the frontcourt now. Pau Gasol is out with a concussion, and Dwight Howard is sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Hill was averaging 6.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 15.8 minutes a game this season.
He was examined by team doctor Steve Lombardo and hip specialist Dr. Jason Snibbe, according to the Lakers, and an arthrogram test on Friday revealed loose fragments and a possible labral tear.
Hill has been told he will need surgery to repair the injury, but he is expected to get a second opinion before scheduling an operation.
