FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) -- Nick Lindner had his hand on nearly every score in a pivotal run down the stretch as Lafayette rallied from five points down to defeat Sacred Heart 86-79 on Saturday afternoon.
Lindner hit 6 of 6 free throws, dished four assists and scored 10 of his career-high 24 points as the Leopards (3-5) pulled away from Sacred Heart (2-7) in the final 8:40. Seth Hinrichs scored 17 points, Joey Ptasinski 11 and Dan Trist 10 for Lafayette. Lindner had a career-first zero turnovers.
Trailing 67-62, Lindner sank four free throws by 8:11 to pull the Leopards to within 67-66, then dished to Ptasinski for a 3-pointer, Michael Hoffman for a layup and scored himself for a 73-69 lead.
Sacred Heart closed to 73-72 on Steve Glowiak's 3-pointer, but got no closer in a half that saw four lead changes. Chris Evans and Evan Kelley each scored 15 for the Pioneers.
