Robbie Keane, Juninho Score Braces
The LA Galaxy got a pair of goals from Robbie Keane and Juninho. Juninho scored the first two goals of the match in the 11th and 33rd minutes. Juninho's first goal came on a free kick from just outside the area which he swerved into the net by the far post. The second strike was one of the Brazilian midfielder's trademark long range blasts. Keane scored his first goal in the 36th minute on a chip from inside the penalty area. Keane was set up on the goal by great work from Landon Donovan and Mike Magee. Keane finished off the Canadian side in stoppage time with twists and turns in the area before blasting a close range shot into the net.
Galaxy Defense Has Off Night
The Galaxy defense had three consecutive MLS shutouts entering the Toronto match. Despite managing five shots, Toronto scored twice from inside the penalty area. The Galaxy as a team seemed to take their 3-0 lead for granted. The Canadian side scored two minutes after L.A.'s third goal when Terry Dunfield was left unmarked in the area. Toronto's second goal came in the 86th minute when Luis Silva was able to chip a shot in after collecting a pass in the area.
The wins never seem to come easy against Toronto but the Galaxy were not in any real danger in this match. Our side took 27 shots in the match and put 10 on frame. After the victory, the Galaxy are tied with Real Salt Lake for second place in the Western Conference in points but have a tiebreaker lead over RSL in goals scored. Now that the win sealed a playoff spot for the Galaxy, the team can rest starters from MLS play, if needed, for what could be a crucial CONCACAF Champions League Group 5 match against Isidro Metapan on Oct. 25.
