L.A. Galaxy’s David Beckham Tops Teammate Juninho for Fourth MLS Goal of the Week Honor: Fan Reaction

David Beckham has done it again! The 37-year-old's bending free kick against the Vancouver Whitecaps has won the AT&T Goal of the Week honor for Week 26. Although fellow L.A. Galaxy player Juninho was also nominated, Beckham ended up with the majority of the vote. This is the fourth GOTW honor for Beckham.

    Tight Race

Some weeks, there are goals that stand out from the rest. In other instances, the goal of the week nominees are not anything to get excited about. However, in week 26, there were several goals that could have taken the GOTW honor. Beckham took 32 percent of the vote for his bending free kick from 25 yards out. Right behind him was the Galaxy's Juninho who took 24 percent of the vote. While Juninho doesn't have the star power that Beckham has, his goal from 28-yards out was, in my opinion, the best of the bunch. Wilman Conde ended up with 19 percent for another long distance stunner. Interestingly enough, Ramiro Corrales only earned 16 percent of the vote for a free kick that was very similar to Beckham's.

    A Personal Best

As far as goal scoring goes, both Beckham and Juninho have set a personal best for their MLS career. Prior to 2012, Beckham's highest scoring year was 2008 when he netted five goals. In 2009, 2010, and 2011, the English midfielder had only scored 2 goals per season. In addition to his seven goals, Becks has also contributed nine assists. As for Juninho, the Brazilian has scored five goals this season. While with the Galaxy, Juninho has scored two goals in 2010 and four in 2011.

    The Galaxy Making their Move

The Galaxy are 3-1-1 in their last five and have moved up to the No. 5 spot in the Week 26 MLS power rankings. In the last seven games Beckham has played in, he has scored five goals and lent four assists. Juninho has scored four of his five goals in the last four games. Beckham may win more GOTW honors; however, I'm just happy to see two players who have picked up the pace in the latter half of the season.

There are still six games left in the regular season. At this rate, I'm wondering how many goals these two Los Angeles Galaxy players might score. Right now, the sky's the limit.
