The UFC is heating things up this summer with a record number of events.
One that has been a little slow in coming together, but is quickly gaining momentum is UFC on FOX 12, which will take place on July 26 at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.
With the event set for San Jose, the home base of the American Kickboxing Academy, it’s not at all surprising that talk is shifting towards fighters from that academy landing on the card.
One surprising name, however, is Kyle Kingsbury, who hasn’t fought in nearly two years. After he lost to Jimi Manuwa at UFC on Fuel TV 5 in September of 2012 in Nottingham, England, Kingsbury appeared ready to hang up his gloves for good.
After taking some time off, it seems that Kingsbury isn’t quite ready to call it a career, as he’s anticipating a fight on the UFC on FOX 12 card, according to a report on UFC Tonight. He’ll be looking to bounce back from a three-fight skid, but an opponent has not been named as of the time of publication.
Another fight that UFC Tonight said is “in the works” for UFC on FOX 12 includes another AKA fighter, Noad Lahat. Lahat is reportedly expected to face Steven Siler in San Jose.
Lahat made his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 38 in Brazil in March, losing for the first time in his professional career. Lahat had won seven consecutive bouts before Godofredo Castro knocked him out with a flying knee.
Siler (23-12) is much more experienced than Lahat, but he’s had his own troubles of late. Having risen up the UFC featherweight ranks, Siler stumbled in his last couple of fights, losing back-to-back bouts to Dennis Bermudez and Rony Jason.
The only bout confirmed for UFC on FOX 12 is a light heavyweight battle between the recently returned Anthony Johnson and the soon to be returning Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
