Kyle Busch holds off charge, wins second Daytona duel race

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- It looks like the place to be is out front when it comes to a last-lap shootout at Daytona International Speedway.

Kyle Busch occupied that spot as the second of the Budweiser Duel at Daytona races entered the final 10 laps. He was able to hold off a last-lap charge by Chevrolet drivers Kasey Kahne and Austin Dillon to score the victory for Toyota.

Clint Bowyer finished fourth with Matt Kenseth completlng the top five.

The race was caution free, but not trouble free for Jeff Gordon, who started first in the second of the twin 60-lap qualifying races.

Gordon dominated the first 39 laps before pitting for fuel and two right-side tires. But in a bid to stay in front of Kahne as they raced off pit road, Gordon was caught speeding as he exited pit road. This resulted in a pass-through penalty that left Gordon in 12th place.

The Gordon penalty allowed the threesome of Busch, Kenseth and Bowyer to open up a four-second lead over a pack headed by Kahne. But it took Kahne, Paul Menard, Mark Martin, Jeff Burton and Dillon only two laps to erase that deficit.

The top eight with 10 laps to go were Busch, Bowyer, Kahne, Menard, Martin, Burton, Kenseth and Dillon.

With eight laps remaining, Bowyer tried to get around Busch, but was unable to accomplish his mission as Kenseth, Kahne and Dillon hooked up to move into positions two, three and four respectively.

With just over a lap to go, Kahne and Dillon teamed up to drop Kenseth out of the top two.

But the two Chevrolet drivers were unable to get by Busch.

"I wanted to be leading and I was so I was able to hold everybody off," said Busch.
