The Sacramento Kings waived guard Aaron Brooks, the team announced Friday.
The Kings had been negotiating a buyout with Brooks, the Sacramento Bee reported, and Yahoo! Sports reported that Brooks is likely to sign with the Houston Rockets.
Brooks started 20 games this season for the Kings, but his playing time has dwindled in recent weeks in favor of Jimmer Fredette.
In his first 35 games of the season, Brooks averaged 23.6 minutes , 9.1 points and 2.7 assists. In his past 11 games, he's averaged 12.1 minutes, 4.3 points and 1.1 assists.
Brooks played his first three NBA seasons in Houston, and he started 82 games for the Rockets in 2009-2010. He would be a backup to Jremy Lin if he signs with the Rockets as expected.
