The Sacramento Kings extended a qualifying offer on Tuesday to guard Tyreke Evans, making him a restricted free agent.
The move, announced by general manager Pete d'Alessandro, allows the Kings to match any potential contract offer that Evans gets from another team.
Evans, the fourth overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, averaged 15.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.38 steal in 65 regular-season games (including 61 starts) for the Kings this past season. The former NBA Rookie of the Year has a career scoring average of 17.5 points per game.
