Dinamo Minsk had the points locked up with a 2-0 lead over Metallurg late in the third period during Monday KHL action and forward Sergei Drozd was looking to add a third.

But a funny thing happened on the way to Metallurg’s empty net, with the home side pulling their netminder for the extra attacker in hopes of staging a comeback. Drozd made a lovely move to get by defenseman Evgeny Viksna and had his first goal of the season in his sights – but then disaster struck.

The crowd’s audible shock certainly stands out after both missed chances, as does Viksna, who managed to catch up and try to clear the puck away after slowing down once Drozd got by him.

Fortunately for Drozd his miss was the worst thing to happen on that sequence as Metallurg didn’t go the other way and ruin Ben Scrivens’ shutout with a goal. Minsk would hang on to win 2-0.
