Kevin Love finished with 30 points and added 14 rebounds to help the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the New Orleans Pelicans, 88-77. Minnesota (23-22) has now won back-to-back games after defeating Chicago Bulls on Monday.
Love finished 11-26 from the field (1-6 on 3-pointers) and 7-9 from the free throw line. Other top contributors for Minnesota included Kevin Martin with 18 points and 6 rebounds, Dante Cunningham with 12 points and 6 rebounds, and J.J. Barea with 10 points and 6 assists. Despite the loss, Al-Farouq Aminu scored 18 points for New Orleans on 8-13 shooting. He also registered 12 rebounds. Tyreke Evans chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds.
The Pelicans posted an eFG% of just 36.6%, including 9.5% from 3-point range. This year, they are winless (0-5) when they record marks below 45% and 30% in those respective categories. On the other hand, the Timberwolves are undefeated (4-0) when holding their opponents to such low percentages.
This defeat means an end to a three-game winning streak for New Orleans, pushing their record to 19-26 for the year.
