Kevin Durant finished with 24 points and registered 13 rebounds, his 5th double-double of the season, to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a close victory over the San Antonio Spurs, 94-88. Oklahoma City (10-3) is now on a 5-game winning streak.
Durant finished 10-23, including 1-5 from three-point range. Serge Ibaka also contributed for Oklahoma City, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Despite the loss, Tony Parker put up 16 points for San Antonio on 6-16 shooting from the field and 4-6 from the free throw line. He also tallied 7 assists. Kawhi Leonard added 14 points and 10 rebounds and Tim Duncan finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds.
The clash of top-tier defenses was won by Oklahoma City. They rank second in the NBA in defensive efficiency this season (90.36), and held San Antonio to just 0.90 points per possession. In addition to 25.9% from 3-point range, the Spurs tallied an eFG% of just 42.9%. They are 2-1 on the season when registering marks below 30% and 45%, respectively, in those statistics. The Thunder, conversely, are undefeated (2-0) when holding the opposition to such dismal shooting numbers.
This defeat means an end to an 11-game winning streak for San Antonio, pushing their record to 13-2 for the year.
