Kentucky's Anthony Davis is the Yahoo! Sports national player of the year, leads All-America team

In a season in which a Kentucky team with five starters who were underclassmen won the national title, it should come as no surprise that one of those young Wildcats is the Yahoo! Sports national player of the year.

Freshman big man Anthony Davis changed the course of numerous games this season – literally and figuratively – with his shot-blocking prowess. Davis also produced on offense and on the boards.

He is joined on our All-America first team by four upperclassmen: seniors Marcus Denmon of Missouri and Draymond Green of Michigan State and juniors Isaiah Canaan of Murray State and Thomas Robinson of Kansas.

Fellow UK freshmen Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is a third-team selection. Kansas (Robinson and third-teamer Tyshawn Taylor) and North Carolina (second-teamer Kendall Marshall and third-teamer Tyler Zeller) also had two players honored.

Along with our three-deep All-America team, we also selected various other All-America teams: an All-High-Mid-Major squad, an All-Mid-Major team and an All-Low-Major group. We used the overall conference RPIs to differentiate within the other categories.

Coming Sunday is our freshman All-America team.
