Kenneth Faried recorded his 6th double-double this season, scoring 18 points and registering 14 rebounds, to help the Denver Nuggets slip by the Dallas Mavericks, 102-100. This is the second win in as many games for Denver (6-6) after beating Chicago on Thursday.
Faried shot 7-7 from the field, in an efficient offensive performance. Denver also got solid performances from Ty Lawson with 20 points and 9 assists, and Randy Foye with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Dirk Nowitzki had another strong performance for Dallas despite the loss, scoring 27 points on 9-22 shooting from the field and 9-9 from the free throw line. He also added 9 rebounds. Monta Ellis added 25 points and 6 rebounds and Jose Calderon finished with 11 points and 5 assists.
The Mavericks had a myriad of misses, most of which they were unable to corral (combining an eFG% of 44.3% with an OR% of 16.3). When falling below 45% and 20% in those respective categories, they are 0-1 this season. The Nuggets, conversely, are undefeated (2-0) when holding the opposition below those marks.
This loss snaps a 4-game winning streak for Dallas, dropping them to 9-5 on the year.
Next up on Monday, the Mavericks get an opportunity for redemption against Nuggets.
