Jamaal Charles had a big day running the football, leading the way to a close win for the Chiefs over the Texans, 17-16, at home.
Alex Smith finished the game 23 of 34 with 240 yards passing, one touchdown (0 pass, 1 rush) and one pick. On the Texans side, Case Keenum went 15 for 25 with 271 yards passing, one touchdown and one fumble.
Charles was a standout player for the Chiefs, rushing for 86 yards on 21 attempts with a touchdown in addition to three receptions for 37 yards with one fumble. Dexter McCluster pulled in four balls for 70 yards.
The Kansas City defensive unit led the way to a victory, giving up 73 yards rushing and 221 passing. They harassed Keenum and the Texans offensive line with an imposing five sacks.
Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins had a big day with 76 receiving yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Andre Johnson also had a noteworthy performance with 89 receiving yards.
The Chiefs are at home to take on the Browns (3-3) next week while the Texans will meet the Colts (4-2), also at home.
