Conte: Claims of refereeing bias 'a joke'

Antonio Conte said he would not like to see any players leaving Juventus during the January transfer window.

Striker Mirko Vucinic has been linked with a move away from Turin due to a lack of game time this season, midfielder Paul Pogba is one of the most coveted players in the sport, and playmaker Andrea Pirlo is out of contract at the end of the season.

Consequently, there has been speculation that offers could arrive for all three next month - but Conte is hopeful that there will be no departures at Juventus Stadium.

"I will not stop anyone [from leaving], but if it were up to me, everyone would stay," he stated during the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards.

When pressed on the possibility of Pogba and Pirlo signing new deals with the Italian champions, Conte added: "These questions should be directed at [director general Beppe] Marotta. They are club matter. I think only of coaching."

It has been suggested, though, that Pirlo's future in Turin hinges on whether Conte wants to adopt a more expansive game for next season.

However, the former midfield ace insists that, as a coach, he is not married to one particular system.

"The coach is like a tailor," Conte mused. "He must adapt his ideas to the players at his disposal. Upon my arrival at Juve I applied a 4-2-4 with very offensive wingers. Then, with Pirlo, I changed tack and I did that for the good of the club."

Turning his attention to the Serie A title race, Conte argued that even though Juve is in possession of a healthy five-point advantage over Roma at the top of the table, things have got even more difficult for the two-time defending champions this season.

"It's a more competitive tournament than in previous seasons because there is a lot of balance," he argued. "During the summer many clubs strengthened in the transfer market, which is why it will not be easy to win again."
