Recommendation: Wedge's support of Smoak comes as a surprise in the wake of the acquisitions of Mike Morse and Kendrys Morales, who are direct threats to Smoak's roster spot. This is probably Wedge's attempt to A) boost Smoak's dwindling trade value by claiming the M's haven't given up on him, and B) light a fire under Smoak, who doesn't look to have a roster spot unless he has a huge spring.
