Third Baseman Rankings
Dropping off: Brandon Inge (36th), Brandon Laird (38th), Nick Castellanos (39th), Pedro Ciriaco (40th)
I'm sure most will say that Machado should be higher, but the average is going to come down and everyone else in the top 10 should have better power numbers. I'll list Machado as a top-five third baseman next year, but I don't think he's going to rank that highly over the rest of this year.
Rendon debuts at No. 24 with the expectation that he'll soon replace Danny Espinosa as the Nationals' second baseman. Perhaps it will only be until Espinosa's wrist heals, but if he hits, he should get every opportunity to keep the job.
Chisenhall is batting .371 with five homers in 15 games since his demotion to Triple-A Columbus. The Indians won't be in any hurry to bring him back, but they hurt themselves defensively every time they play Reynolds at third base.
Stewart, on the other hand, is batting .151/.275/.233 with no homers in 31 games for Triple-A Iowa. The Cubs have soured on him and might just decide to go ahead and release him.
