Dropping off: Nick Franklin (32nd)

o Valbuena is one of the tougher calls right now. Even with the .195 average, he should be ranked in the top 20 here, having hit a whopping 19 homers in 257 at-bats. However, he could find himself on the bench more often than not if Jed Lowrie pulls off a successful return from a torn thumb ligament next month.

o Dietrich, currently filling in at third, is someone I could see becoming a top-20 fantasy second baseman the rest of the way if the Marlins trade Prado. He would have been one of my favorite sleepers this year if the Marlins hadn’t acquired Prado.

o Spangenberg would have been about five spots higher if not for the knee injury he suffered Saturday. The Padres are calling it a bone bruise and saying he has a chance to avoid the disabled list. Still, if he’s going to miss more than a few days, it’d make sense to place him on the DL and give Gyorko another chance at second base.
