Julianna Pena Says Legal Issues ‘Resolved,' Expects Summer UFC Return

Fifth-ranked women's bantamweight contender Julianna Pena‘s legal issues stemming from a December altercation outside of a bar in Spokane, Wash., have been resolved, and she's eager to return to the cage.

The Ultimate Fighter 18 tournament winner expects to be back in action this summer, but isn't certain when she'll get the call from UFC matchmakers.

“I’m not sure exactly (when I'll fight next), but I know that it’s going to be sometime in the coming months. So maybe sometime in the summer, I’m assuming. I’m just waiting to hear when my next fight is going to be announced,” the 26-year-old contender recently told Submission Radio.

Pena was charged with two counts of assault in the aftermath of the December incident, but says that her legal troubles are behind her.

“I know that my legal issues are resolved. I’m just now waiting for the UFC to announce my next fight,” she said.

“The matter was resolved, and it’s all taken care of now. I didn’t have to go to court. I had a really great lawyer to take care of things for me, and it’s over and done with,” added Pena.

While waiting for her phone to ring with a fight offer, “The Venezuelan Vixen” has been busy in the gym working to improve her database of destruction.

“I just continue to train, and continue to work hard, and put my time in on the mat everyday. When they call me, I’ll be ready. I’m just waiting for that time,” she said. “When they want me to fight, they’ll let me know. And I’ll let them know, and we’ll come to an agreement.”
