Juan Agudelo is enjoying his start to life in the Eredivisie, and has now scored his first goal in Europe.
The 21-year-old striker, on loan from Stoke City, scored in the 24th minute for FC Utrecht in a 2-1 defeat to PEC Zwolle on Thursday. The goal came off a poor clearance that went to the American, who swiveled past his defender and rocketed a shot into the roof of the net from the top of the box.
It was Agudelo's first goal for his new club in his third game, and second straight start. He notched an assist against Ajax last week in his first start.
Despite going up 1-0, Utrecht was unable to grab any points on the road. Adam Sarota was shown a straight red card in the 58th minute and the home side capitalized, as Denis Mahmudov and Fred Benson scored in the 74th and 77th minutes to secure the win for PEC Zwolle.
Agudelo has been capped 17 times by the U.S. national team, and is looking to make a late push for a recall to Jurgen Klinsmann's side ahead of the World Cup. He has not featured since January 2013.
