Jrue Holiday finished with 20 points and added 12 assists, his sixth double-double of the season, to lead the New Orleans Pelicans to a close victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, 104-98. The Pelicans shot 39-76 (51.3%) from the field and turned it over on only six possessions. New Orleans (11-10) has now won back-to-back games after defeating Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.
Holiday shot 7-14 (3-7 from three-point range) in a good performance. Other key players for New Orleans included Ryan Anderson with 18 points and 7 rebounds, and Al-Farouq Aminu with 10 points and 5 rebounds. On 8-10 shooting, Jon Leuer scored 19 points off the bench for Memphis in the loss. He also registered 8 rebounds. Mike Conley chipped in 18 points and 7 assists and Zach Randolph finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pelicans combined an eFG% of 57.2% with 40.9% 3-point shooting. They are undefeated (3-0) this year when registering marks above 55% and 40% in those respective statistics. The Grizzlies, on the other hand, are winless (0-4) when allowing opponents to hit those marks.
This drops Memphis (10-12) to 0-2 against New Orleans on the year.
Coming up, the Pelicans take on the Denver Nuggets, who are 13-8 on the season. The Grizzlies match up with the Minnesota Timberwolves, currently sitting at 11-12 this year.
