Josh Koscheck Wants to Fight Nick Diaz and Other Top Welterweights: Fan Reaction

"Ultimate Fighter" season one alumni, Josh Koscheck, has had two chances to become the UFC's welterweight champion, but he wasn't able to get past current champ, Georges St. Pierre.

"Kos" rebounded from his latest loss to GSP with wins against Matt Hughes and Mike Pierce, but he ended up losing a close split-decision to Johny Hendricks at "UFC on Fox 3."

The UFC gave Koscheck an opportunity to redeem himself by setting up a fight against Jake Ellenberger at UFC 151, but "Kos" ended up pulling out of the bout due to a back injury. With his injuries behind him, Koscheck still has title aspirations, and he currently has his sights set on some of the top welterweights in the UFC.

"I'd like to fight Nick [Diaz], Damien [Maia], Jake E, Rory [MacDonald], any of those guys will do it," Koscheck tweeted.

I definitely wouldn't mind watching Koscheck square up against any of the listed fighters.

A fight against Diaz wouldn't be bad idea, considering the fact both men are trying to fight their way back towards title contention. On paper, the fight does favor Diaz a bit, but the Stockton native has struggled against solid wrestlers in the past.

Maia would also make a decent opponent for Koscheck. The BJJ specialist has looked like a new man inside the Octagon since he decided to drop down to the welterweight division, and a fight against Koscheck would give him the opportunity to prove he's a legitimate welterweight contender.

MacDonald is arguably the most dangerous opponent for Koscheck, and also the least likely. The rising welterweight star will be due for a number one contender bout if he gets past BJ Penn at "UFC on Fox 5," and I can't see the promotion rewarding Koscheck, who is coming off a loss with, with a number one contender bout if MacDonald wins. A fight between the two would make a lot more sense if MacDonald ends up losing to Penn on Dec. 8.

Ellenberger seems to be the most likely opponent for Koscheck's next fight. Both men are trying to work their way back towards title contention, and their skills are evenly matched.
