Josh Becket out for season, maybe beyond

Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett confirmed that he is out for the season Friday due to a hip injury, and he told reporters this injury might just bring his career to an end.

Beckett will be 35 next May, and has required surgeries at the end of each of the last two seasons. He told reporters he is still contemplating his future, but will require hip surgery regardless of whether he plays next season or not.

"I certainly have plans if I decide not to play next year," he said, via the Orange County Register. "I'll leave it at that."

Beckett is a free agent this offseason, after tossing 115 2/3 innings with a 2.88 ERA in 2014.
