Update: Valverde blew the save and then some Wednesday in the Tigers' Game 4 loss to the A's, giving up three runs in the ninth inning on four hits.
Recommendation: Valverde saved 35 games during the regular season, but saw his strikeout rate drop precipitously. He was far from perfect during the regular season, and has now put the Tigers up against elimination. With Valverde set to hit free agency this offseason, it would be a surprise to see him closing for the Tigers next year.
