Other key performers for Washington were Nene Hilario with 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Marcin Gortat with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Despite the loss, Paul Millsap scored 23 points for Atlanta on 9-14 shooting, including 4-5 from behind the arc. He also recorded 10 rebounds. Jeff Teague contributed 15 points and 5 assists, Cartier Martin finished with 12 points and 5 rebounds, and DeMarre Carroll put up 11 points and 8 rebounds.
The Wizards combined an eFG% of 56.4% with 50.0% 3-point shooting. They are 1-0 this year when registering marks above 55% and 40% in those respective statistics. The Hawks, on the other hand, are winless (0-5) when allowing opponents to hit those marks.
Atlanta (9-9) could not get back-to-back victories after defeating Dallas on Friday.
