U.S. international center back John Brooks continued his late push for a World Cup roster spot with a goal Saturday against Eintracht Braunschweig.
Starting his third game in a row, Brooks opened the scoring for Hertha Berlin in the 61st minute. Sami Allagui would add another tally as Hertha eased to a 2-0 home victory.
The win kept Hertha sitting comfortably midtable, while Braunschweig is in big relegation danger sitting last place in the Bundesliga, two points from safety.
Brooks had a forgettable performance in the USA's friendly loss at Ukraine last month, but he has now started five of Hertha's last six Bundesliga games, and could get a chance to impress Jurgen Klinsmann in next month's pre-World Cup camp.
