John Axford: Blown Save In Opener

Rotowire.com
Update: Axford blew his first save opportunity of the season by allowing a solo homer to Dexter Fowler on Monday afternoon.

Recommendation: After striking out Chris Nelson and Eric Young Jr. to begin the inning -- albeit after bringing both hitters to a full count -- Fowler jumped on a first-pitch fastball and deposited it into the right field bleachers. Jim Henderson tossed a scoreless 10th inning and was rewarded with the win. After the game, Brewers manager Ron Roenicke cited Axford's Opening Day blown save against the Reds in 2011 before he turned in the best season of his career. While Axford should have some leash as the Brewers' closer to begin the year, Henderson looks like an intriguing speculative add if Axford's struggles persist.
