UFC fighter and Massachusetts native, Joe Lauzon, has something in common with the pound-for-pound King of MMA and UFC Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva. As of winning his fight against former WEC champion, Jamie Varner at UFC on Fox 4, Lauzon has received nine UFC fight bonus awards--exactly the same number as Anderson Silva has received.

Joe Lauzon: UFC Award Bonus List (9)

With this long list of fight bonus awards, Joe Lauzon is quietly building a case to be included in the UFC Hall of Fame one day. UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, tweeted his appreciation of the UFC on Fox 4 fight card, "Tonight was one of the greatest cards in UFC history. Beyond pumped that it was on FOX so first time viewers can see why MMA is so exciting!"

Joe Lauzon tweeted, "When @jamievarner and I hugged at the beginning of round 3, I said to him 'Let's kill each other.' I was having a great time. # UFConFox"

Here are comments from Joe Lauzon, post-fight with Fuel TV MMA Insider, Ariel Helwani video

I've seen Joe Lauzon, age 28, at local BJJ tournaments around Boston. He always appears the same way to me: humble, approachable and intently focused on his students during their matches. He's a very likeable guy and instantly recognizable because his ears stick out. I think that counts as a distinguishing feature--like a signature.

Joe is a man with a plan tweeting, "Working hard for that @BurgerKing sponsorship!"

Lauzon started his UFC career at UFC 63 by knocking out Jens Pulver at 0:48 of the first round back in September of 2006. Joe has had an amazing run.

Anderson Silva: UFC Award Bonus List (9)

Anderson, at age 37, with a record of 29-4 shows no sign of slowing down. His ability to outwit and defeat his opponents is legendary. Anderson has a 16 fight win streak--since losing to Yushin Okami (the first time they fought) in January 2006 at ROTR 8. Anderson defeated Rich "Ace" Franklin at UFC 64 to claim the championship belt. No contender has been able to figure out--and execute--a game plan to defeat Anderson Silva.

Knockout of the Night

Chael Sonnen - UFC 148

Vitor Belfort - UFC 126

Forrest Griffin - UFC 101

Rich Franklin - UFC 77

Submission of the Night

Chael Sonnen - UFC 117 (Triangle)

Dan Henderson - UFC 82 (RNC)

Fight of the Night

Interesting to note that Anderson lost his first professional MMA fight against Luiz Azeredo by decision in May of 2000. MMA fans worldwide are grateful to him for not giving up and continuing to work to perfect his game.
