Jets re-sign LB Mauga

Linebacker Josh Mauga re-signed with the Jets, agreeing to a one-year contract on Monday.

Mauga is primarily a backup and special teams contributor. He was not offered a tender of $1.32 million as one of the Jets' four restricted free agents but agreed to a deal before free agency began Tuesday.

Mauga missed 11 games last season with a torn pectoral muscle.

He was an undrafted free agent in 2009 and was on the practice squad in 2009 and 2010 before being signed to the active roster in Oct. 2010.

In three seasons, he has played in 29 games with 40 tackles on special teams.

The Jets extended one-year, $1.32 million tender offers to their other three restricted free agents: tight end Jeff Cumberland, long-snapper Tanner Purdum and offensive tackle Austin Howard.
