Jets owner to GM hopeful: Tebow 'forced' on them

National Football Post

According to one former general manager candidate for the New York Jets, team owner Woody Johnson told that Tim Tebow was "forced" on the team in a trade last year.

"They realized it was divisive and hard on the locker room, and they wanted an exit strategy," said former Denver Broncos GM Ted Sundquist, who interviewed for the job a week and a half ago before the Jets decided to hire John Idzik as their new general manager.

According to Sundquist,  it appears that Johnson laid the blame for the acquisition of Tebow on former general manager Mike Tannenbaum, who was fired after the regular season ended.

The Jets, who used Tebow sparingly this season and usually only in the Wildcat or on special teams, are likely to part ways with the quarterback in the off-season.
