The Minnesota Vikings added Jerome Simpson knowing he would likely miss time at the start of the season.
Now, they know they will be without the speedy veteran for the first three games of the season. The NFL announced Simpson has been suspended without pay for the first three games for violating the NFL’s Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse. Simpson was busted for receiving a shipment of 2.5 pounds of marijuana at his home in Kentucky last year when he was a member of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Simpson will be eligible to return to the Vikings’ active roster on Monday, Sept. 24, following the team’s Week 3 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Simpson is eligible to participate in all remaining offseason workouts, training camp and and preseason games. His suspension begins Week 1.
