Jermaine Jones won't be having surgery on his knee this week after all.
Reports over the weekend suggested that the USA midfielder would be out of action for four to six weeks, with a procedure needed to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.
Reports from Germany suggested that the surgery was originally scheduled to take place over the winter break, but after Jones was told by the club that he would be dropped for its Champions League match on Tuesday, he decided to have the surgery immediately.
However, on Monday Jones used his Twitter account to dispel these reports saying: "On my way to training soon!! Surgery ?? No... Schalke 04 is more important atm!!"
Jones was dropped from Schalke's squad for the club's match against Basel on Tuesday after making a mistake that almost led to a winning goal for Hoffenheim, with the clubs eventually drawing 3-3.
