Jedd Gyorko: Padres' Likely Starter at Second

Rotowire.com
Update: Gyorko will likely be San Diego's Opening Day starter at second base, CBS Sports reports. The team has not made an official announcement, but management is apparently satisfied that he has made a smooth transition from third to second.

Recommendation: Gyorko's chances have not been hurt by the fact that Logan Forsythe, who manned the keystone last season for San Diego, has been held out of the lineup since last Saturday due to plantar fasciitis. Furthermore, Gyorko's noted prowess at the plate has not gone by the wayside, as he has slashed .270/.308/.595 to go with three home runs and nine RBI in 37 Cactus League at-bats. With those two facts in his favor, he is close to locking down the gig and should receive a respectable bump on fantasy rankings due to the scarcity of power at second base.
